Novelty ~ Rhombicuboctahedron

Novelty ~ Rhombicuboctahedron

The geometric name of this shape is a rhombicuboctahedron. It

is an Archimedean solid with 24 faces -- 18 squares and 8 equilat-

eral triangles. The current name is a shortened form of truncated

cuboctahedral rhombus which it was originally named by

Johannes Kepler in his Harmonica Mundi of 1618. Because this

beaded version has a sphere inside, it is pushed out of its strict

geometric shape, loosing the straight edges and flat faces.
